Employment History

Nortel Networks (Telecommunications) 1998 - Present

Mar 2004 – Present                         IT Support (VB .Net/Perl)

Internal support team for Mercury Interactive Qualitycenter. This is a test management system used internally in Nortel. The team have developed many custom “helper” applications using the VB API exported from the tool.

Oct 2002 – Mar 2004                     Web Programmer  (Perl/Java)

Website/system monitoring software. Design and development of next generation testcase management system for global deployment in Nortel using an enterprise java solution.

May 2001 – Oct 2002                     Embedded Software Engineer (C/C++/NT/m8260)

Design and implementation of a configuration management system for new generation telecommunications platform. Online dynamic configuration and offline code generation systems. Design and development of software delivery functionality for embedded platform.

Jan 2001 - April 2001                      Integrity Test Architect  (perl/unix/linux/NT)

Advanced test platform developed using perl to extensively test software from the developers prospective. Transparent simulated hardware testing was achieved, allowing testing to be completed independent of expensive hardware. Work started on full virtual systems, enabling complete system test simulation.

August 1998 - Dec 2000                 Verification (N-1 regression) Automation Analyst

Created test harness and suite allowing the equivalent to 14 man-weeks of testing (600 tests) in a 12-hour overnight cycle. It now runs 3500 tests on a range of products. Results reported to web page for instant access and easy navigation (100,000+ lines of results data per night per product (3-5 products))

This project has been submitted for a patent (Patent Pending # 11324IDUS01U)

Both testing jobs required administration of several Windows/UNIX servers, related LAN, and sophisticated telecommunications test equipment. All jobs have benefited from simple automation tasks I have completed, which remove repetitive and mundane work, saving time on a daily basis.
