After months of waiting (see entry for Wed 9th July) NIE came back last Friday (7th) and connected up the mains. With the dark nights etc I didn't really get a chance to look at it, but I bought 100m of 6mm T&E cable and got that installed. I pushed it through a water pipe at the site end and at the caravan end for protection, and I covered it with yellow tape on the field to mark it clearly.

The trip kept blowing, so I got the electrician to replace it - it was faulty. There was also a problem with water running down the cavity onto the supply board - so a plastic sheet now stops that.
