With the holidays almost over, hopefully the work will start again on Monday. The electrician has been here over some of Christmas, and all the tracking is done, and some conduit installed.
The dummy chimney has been constructed, and placed on the roof. The whole roof has been felted, and battoned, the only remaining roof area is the conservatory. The chimneys will be finished with render before the tiles are laid on the roof, to avoid dirtying them at a later stage. [more]
The chimneys have now been plastered, and ready for finishing. Unfortunately the weather has been bad for a few days, and it has not been possible to render the finish on the chimneys. Hopefully that will be done in the incoming week, and the windows are due the following week (19th Jan). [more]
A week early! The windows arrived today much to the contractors surprise, and now most of the windows are in. However, the arched window at the front, all the doors, and the two small windows either side of the porch are still missing. It makes a great difference inside - the weather is quite windy at the minute, but inside it's pretty calm now.
The plumber got the pipes in for the radiators in the loft today and the electrician has most of the upstairs wiring completed.
The chimneys were finished today, but unfortunately the rain started and the finish had to be removed :(
Sorry, no pictures today, I wasn't home until 5pm, and it was dark, hopefully get some more soon...
Another day of bad weather, but the floor is now in the attic. The electrician is back tonight wiring the lighting in the attic, and we spent some time marking out where the lights should go in the kitchen (15 spots). No pics again due to darkness...
After a bad week the plasterers came today to dash the chimneys. The roof is now ready to be tiled, so hopefully that will be done in the incoming week. [more]
The tilers came back on Monday, and by the end of the day the tiling had been completed around the velux windows, and the lead flashing of the porch. Tuesday finished the rest of the roof, and by Wednesday the conservatory had been felted, battoned, and tiled. [more]
The joiners were also here Monday and Tuesday battening the ceilings downstairs. This means the electrical work can now be completed downstairs. [more]
All the wiring has now been installed, just some conduit to tidy. The plasterboard is due to be fitted mid-week. The forecast is for a lot of snow, so if that happens it may slow work, but we'll wait and see... [pics]
The guttering company came today to install the guttering. It took them about 3 hours to install all the seamless guttering all round the house. [more]
The plasterboard fitters arrived this morning to sheet all the ceilings, and the walls and ceilings in the attic. By home time they had completed all but the last wall in the attic, so probably a little time tomorrow morning will finish the job. [more]
The plasterers have started work on the outside of the house, with a first coating on the family room. [more] We also seem to be getting lots of filling delivered today, 2 tractors have been on the road non-stop since the morning, and the whole drive/road is covered in mud!
Tonight I took lots of pictures inside the house of exactly where the conduit is in the walls. Hopefully this will provide a reference in the future, so we can avoid nailing through Cat5e when putting up pictures! [more]
The plasterers were back today, but the forecast was for rain, so they started inside. They got 2 upstairs bedrooms completed and the bathroom. At this rate it will take some time to get it all done. [more]
The electrician came today to cut holes in the plasterboard for the lights in the kitchen and conservatory, to ensure that the cables were hidden where we expect them. All were marked carefully, and the cables were there, phew! [more]
