For those who tought we had fallen off the end of the earth (we are right beside it) we haven't. We have had to wait for the bison slabs for the first floor. The company who makes them have to come on site and measure the exact requirements, and then make the slabs. They were here to measure up on Monday 20th Oct, and there has been no progress since.
There is supposed to be a 2 week lead time on the slabs, but due to a backlog they currently take 3 weeks. They are due on Friday, with a bit of luck there will be a few photos to take on Saturday!
The creagh concrete lorry arrived today, the long awaited slabs are in place, see the progressive shots of the day here. The brickies are due back on Monday to resume the work...
After months of waiting (see entry for Wed 9th July) NIE came back last Friday (7th) and connected up the mains. With the dark nights etc I didn't really get a chance to look at it, but I bought 100m of 6mm T&E cable and got that installed. I pushed it through a water pipe at the site end and at the caravan end for protection, and I covered it with yellow tape on the field to mark it clearly.
The trip kept blowing, so I got the electrician to replace it - it was faulty. There was also a problem with water running down the cavity onto the supply board - so a plastic sheet now stops that.
The generator is now officially for sale, any interest please email me
After four weeks of almost no activity, the brickies are back. The weather is
a lot worse now, hopefully they will get a spell of reasonable weather.
Blocks have arrived and are set on top of the bison slabs, the
conservatory is ready for the cills, and the living room is ready for the
lintils. No photos, though - its just too dark when I get home!
Hopefully there will be something more significant to take a picture of when I get a chance.
The weather was good in the morning, but turned again in the afternoon. The living room at the side has been completed and the cills for the conservatory are in place. [more]
It was a better day today, dry all day so the brickies could at last get a full days work done. The man came today to measure up for the roof, hopefully it should be on before Christmas [more]
The work continues upstairs, with the gable walls going up, and window cills in all round, apart from the bathroom where the wall is being left down to allow brick deliveries.
There will be updated pictures here on Monday, I will only get a chance to take some at the weekend.
