The brickies returned for one day (yesterday) and finished off the inside walls. They also did a good tidy up, there were a lot of broken blocks, and little piles of cement. Now we are ready for the roof!
Two weeks work upstairs, the gable walls are well up, the windows almost complete at the front, and the final lift of blocks through the back wall was delivered yesterday.
Hopefully the incoming week will finish the work, weather allowing, the roof is ordered and should be ready in a week. The house should be sealed by Christmas.
You will notice a deteriation in the quality of the pictures - this is because most are now taken in poor lighting conditions. Unfortunately it is now pitch dark when I arrive home (5pm) as the first pic shows. The others were taken at 8am - they look a bit grainy because they are corrected for brightness.
At last the slabs have arrived, and 2 hours put them on. There are a couple of pics here, but follow the full progress here.
This has been a week of slow progress, lots of rain and miserable weather. However they are now ready to put lintils on at the back, and another couple of days should see a lot of progress. Once the building is up to first floor level there will be a two week delay while the concrete slabs are made. The company has to come out and measure, and then make them as they won't trust drawings!
